The most recent dw_news post inspired me to go looking for beadcraft related communities, and I found this one. Hello!

You can also blame elisem whom I met at WorldCon and she inspired me to get back into beading and learn new stuff. Though I kind of got side-tracked; instead of dashing in to learn wire-work, I ended up dipping into micro-macrame. Probably because it's easier to buy string/yarn/thread than wire, and because I already know macrame. Still, making the pretties is always fun!

This is my first micro-macrame necklace:

It's something I picked up like a magpie because it was pretty, and I haven't seen its like since. It's a thin ribbon, but it came in a ball like yarn. It's been sitting in my cupboard because I couldn't figure out what to do with it, so I'm very pleased that I was able to use it at last.

Oh that's a lovely necklace. I've got too many cats to try micro-macrame, though I found a book that I really liked and I want to try it.

Any tips/suggestions so that when I do try it I can keep from knotting my fingers together?

Lovely! I particularly enjoy the seamless integration of the twistiness of the glass and knottedness of the macrame: many cord-and-bead pieces look like "thing A" joined with "thing B," while this is all of a piece.

Thank you! Yes, I know what you mean; some of the designs in the micro-macrame book I bought don't appeal to me for that very reason.
